Chandrapur: The state govt on Thursday appointed Nagpur additional municipal commissioner Vasumana Pant as the new Chandrapur district collector replacing Vinay Gowda GC, who will be new Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar collector. The govt has appointed Ankit, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar ZP CEO, as Pant’s successor in NMC.Gowda, who has been Chandrapur collector since October 2022, is widely credited with strengthening administrative efficiency and public service delivery. His tenure was marked by notable achievements, including Chandrapur securing the top rank in Maharashtra’s 100-Day Office Reform Campaign.Under his leadership, the district also exceeded expectations in the Chief Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (CMEGP), achieving 135.38 per cent of its target for 2024-25, reflecting a strong push towards local entrepreneurship and job creation.Gowda’s work in child welfare earned him the Balsnehi Puraskar for implementation of schemes for children under 14 years. Additionally, Jiwati taluka secured a gold medal under Niti Aayog’s Sampoornta Abhiyan for meeting all key development indicators.During her over one-year tenure in Nagpur, Pant is credited with improving several civic services, including strengthening solid waste management systems, introducing facial recognition-based attendance for sanitation workers, and streamlining functioning of the transport dept.
