Nagpur: Local crime branch (LCB) team of Nagpur rural police arrested a 24-year-old man for illegal possession of a country-made firearm and live cartridges near Kanhan.Acting on a tip-off, the team laid a trap near the highway bridge on Hiwara (Gahu) Road. When the police spotted a man behaving suspiciously, he attempted to flee upon noticing them. However, the alert team quickly apprehended him.On questioning, the accused identified himself as Ajit Manhare (24), a resident of Parseoni. During the search conducted in the presence of witnesses, police recovered one country-made pistol from the accused along with two live cartridges. The accused failed to produce a licence for the firearm.A case has been registered against Manhare at Kanhan police station under Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act. The accused was arrested and produced before the court.
