Bathinda: Only 38% wheat crop was procured from the purchase centres in Punjab till the evening of Wednesday (April 15) as against the arrivals of the crop in the mandis during this period. A total of 6,53,275 metric tonnes (MT) wheat arrived in mandis by April 15, out of which 2,51,543 MT arrived on April 15, and out of the total, 2,47,934 MT was procured from the mandis by the evening of April 15, out of which 1,67,107 MT was procured only on April 15. In all, over 62% wheat arrived in various purchase centres of the state is yet to be procured. As per the data prepared by the state food civil supplies and consumer affairs department, total arrival by April 15 evening was 6,53,275 and total procurement was 2,47,934. Out of the procured grains, 20,002 MT have been lifted from the grain markets. The procurement is lower than the previous year, as last year till April 15, a total of 3,23,121 MT was procured against 2,47,934 during the ongoing season, but the arrival data of the previous year till April 15 was not made public.MSID: 130287936 413 |
