New Delhi: BJP on Monday slammed INDIA bloc and termed it a coalition of parties with no ground presence. Spokesman Sambit Patra said people have rejected these parties in polls.

“Previously, these meetings used to be held in stadiums… Gradually, these meetings have shifted to a single room at the Constitution Club. These parties fight against each other and have no ideological binding. They have lost their integrity and are battling for survival,” Patra said. Referring to developments in Trinamool and DMK leaving the bloc, he said, “In Tamil Nadu, Congress rushed to break the alliance with DMK and join the TVK government. In West Bengal, Rahul Gandhi blamed Mamata Banerjee for the state’s poor condition during polls, but now they are embracing each other. Trinamool is witnessing internal rebellion and so is Congress in Rajasthan. They should first put their own house in order before attempting to come together.”

Responding to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s remarks on SIR and allegations of vote theft, Patra said: “This is the height of hypocrisy. SIR was also conducted in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, but there were no allegations of vote theft there because Congress either formed the government or became part of the government…”
