Banerjee skipped a summons on Monday and sought more time to appear before CID for interrogation in the LoP signature mismatch case. Banerjee had failed to appear before CID office on June 1. Then, he was served a fresh notice, asking him to appear by noon on Monday.

A case was filed after complaints were made by some Trinamool MLAs alleging that the signatures of several legislators were forged and submitted to the West Bengal assembly.
Last week, Abhishek had approached the Calcutta High Court, challenging the CID summons and seeking protection from coercive action. The single-judge vacation bench of justice Chaitali Chatterjee Das rejected the plea for fast-track hearing and set June 10 as the next date of hearing.
The high court on Monday refused an urgent hearing plea by former sports minister Aroop Biswas, who was summoned by the police in connection with alleged irregularities during an event which featured Argentine football star Lionel Messi at Salt Lake Stadium last year. Biswas had moved the court seeking protection from coercive action by the police and challenged an FIR lodged against him. Biswas had skipped appearance before the investigators last week.
