Ahmedabad: The provisional merit list for Gujarat’s MBA and MCA admissions has exposed a stark demand gap: against 22,914 available seats, only 4,650 students have made it to the list, signalling the likelihood of widespread vacancies in the coming rounds.Out of the total seats, 14,791 MBA seats are available in 132 colleges, while 8,123 MCA seats are available in 94 colleges. The merit list includes 2,634 MBA applicants and 1,749 MCA applicants, along with 98 students from other states. Additionally, 172 candidates registered for both MBA and MCA courses. Overall, 4,857 students registered, but only those who appeared for the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) were considered for the merit list.Students can fill their choices for the mock round between July 9 and 12. Based on these preferences, the mock round result will be declared on July 14. The final merit list will also be released on the same day. Following this, choice filling for the first round will take place from July 14 to July 17.Candidates will have the opportunity to modify their choices during the mock round period. Students who are not included in the provisional merit list have been advised to contact the admission committee.Despite the availability of more than 22,000 seats, the low number of eligible candidates indicates that more than 18,000 seats may remain vacant even if all listed students confirm their admissions. As seen in previous years, a significant number of seats are expected to be filled in subsequent rounds for non-CMAT candidates.Additionally, 5,905 management quota seats in MBA and 2,283 in MCA are also available, offering further opportunities for admission.
