T’puram: A 19-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide at Vettoor near Varkala, barely two months after her marriage. The deceased was identified as Naziya, daughter of Noushad and Zaheera of Varkala.According to police, Naziya was found hanging in her bedroom at her house on Wednesday evening. Family members immediately rushed her to a private hospital in Varkala. As her condition was critical, she was later shifted to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, where she succumbed early on Thursday.Police said Naziya had married Ansar of Kollam. Ansar reportedly left for Kuwait for employment just 13 days after the wedding.During the preliminary investigation, police found that Naziya had been emotionally distressed after being separated from her husband. According to police, she had reportedly told her family members that she missed her husband. Police also said they have not received any complaints regarding marital discord, harassment or any other dispute between the couple. They added that all possible angles will be examined.Since the death occurred within seven years of marriage, inquest proceedings were conducted in the presence of revenue divisional officer (RDO) as mandated under the legal procedure. The body was subsequently shifted to MCH for autopsy.Varkala police registered a case of unnatural death under BNS section 194. The funeral is scheduled to be held on Friday.
