CHITRADURGA: A school trip to Goa turned tragic on the way back to Bengaluru after a private bus carrying nursing students overturned into a roadside drain near Aymangala in Hiriyur taluk of Chitradurga district, killing three students, the bus driver and the cleaner and leaving several others injured.The group had left Panaji for Bengaluru around 6-7pm after spending the day in Goa. An injured student said they had left their hotel at around 11am, had lunch and went shopping in Panaji before starting their return journey.The student said the group had dinner at around 10.30pm and later went to sleep. “Suddenly, we felt the bus crash, and everyone started shouting. Some people came, broke the bus windows and helped us get out,” the student said.According to the student, the bus was carrying 49 students, two teaching staff, one non-teaching staff, a father and a travel agent, besides the driver and cleaner/helper.The bus reportedly lost control and overturned into the roadside drain along the highway near Aymangala. The driver and cleaner died on the spot, while more than 15 people were injured in the accident.The injured were taken for treatment.(With agency inputs)
