BENGALURU: BJP leaders on Friday marched from the Valmiki statue to Vidhana Soudha, demanding the resignation of Karnataka minister B Nagendra over his alleged involvement in the alleged embezzlement of funds from the Karnataka State Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation.The protest march was led by BJP leaders, who raised slogans demanding Nagendra’s removal from the state cabinet.The BJP has been demanding action against Nagendra over the alleged Rs 89-crore irregularities in the corporation.Nagendra was the tribal welfare minister when the alleged irregularities came to light in June 2024 following the suicide of corporation accounts superintendent P Chandrasekharan.He resigned from the cabinet amid the allegations and was later arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He is currently out on bail.On Thursday, BJP legislators had also taken out a protest march through the corridors of Vidhana Soudha, carrying posters of Nagendra and alleging that funds transferred from the corporation had reached Congress leaders.They said the agitation would continue until Nagendra resigns.(With agency inputs)
