Jaipur: Unemployed contractual nurses in Jaipur marked the 33rd day of their protest Wednesday by writing postcards to Governor Haribhau Bagde, seeking permission for euthanasia over their unresolved demands.The protesters said they have been staging a peaceful sit-in for more than a month, demanding the reinstatement of nearly 400 contractual nurses who were removed from service and justice for contractual nurse Deepak Charwal, who died by suicide last month. Nurses protesting at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Medical College sent postcards to the Governor, while similar campaigns were launched in other districts.The agitation continued outside Gate No. 3 of SMS Medical College.Deepak Charwal, who was posted at Mahila Chikitsalaya through a placement agency, died by suicide on June 12, eight days after the contractual nurses were removed from service following the state’s decision to direct the agency to withdraw its workforce.Rajasthan Nurses Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti coordinator Rajendra Rana said the protest would continue until the govt provides the promised relief to Deepak’s family and reinstates all experienced contractual nursing personnel who were removed from service.
