Ranchi: Mining operations at the Pakri-Barwadih (North-West) captive mine project (CMP) in Jharkhand have commenced, with the commercial operation date effective from April 1, NTPC Mining Limited (NML), a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, said in a statement. “This adds production capacity to NML’s growing portfolio and further strengthens PSUs ability to meet India’s rising coal demand,” it added.April 1, which marked start of the new fiscal year, also marked the transfer of all mining assets of NTPC Limited to NML, establishing it as a full-fledged dedicated entity.

It also clocked record Coal Production in 2025-26 fiscal. “NML achieved annual coal production of 44.16 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT) in 2025-26, registering a growth of 5.1% over the previous year and successfully surpassing the production target set by the Government of India,” it said.
