Hyderabad: BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday called on party cadre to take the political fight to the grassroots and work towards making Telangana ‘Congress-mukt’, asserting that the BJP’s path to power lay in organisational strength rather than merely capitalising on the Congress govt’s shortcomings.Addressing the Telangana BJP state executive meeting on the outskirts of Hyderabad on the final day of his three-day visit, Nabin urged workers to become the ‘voice of the people’ and realise the aspirations of Telangana. He said the BJP’s mission extended beyond winning power and was rooted in fulfilling the dreams of the people and honouring the sacrifices of generations of karyakartas.Emphasising organisational discipline, Nabin cautioned workers against depending on the central leadership for every direction. “Everything cannot come from Delhi. It should percolate from the state to the district, from the district to the mandal and from the mandal to the booth,” he said, stressing that the booth remained the party’s strongest organisational unit.Drawing a comparison with Chhattisgarh, where the BJP unseated the Congress government, Nabin said many had once considered such an outcome impossible. “It was our karyakartas who took up the fight and ensured the defeat of an anarchic Congress govt,” he said, adding that Telangana workers could achieve a similar result through sustained public outreach and organisational mobilisation.Referring to West Bengal, Nabin said electoral victories were ultimately built on the commitment of party workers. “We will not depend only on the weaknesses of the Congress govy in Telangana. We will bank on the organisational strength the BJP has built over the last 12 years,” he said.Stepping up his attack, Nabin alleged that the Congress govt had abandoned its promises after assuming power and turned Telangana into an ‘ATM for the high command’. He urged booth-level workers to take the BJP’s campaign against the govt, including its allegations of ‘RR Tax’, to every household.Targeting the Congress, BRS and AIMIM, Nabin accused the three parties of advocating religion-based reservations. Reiterating the BJP’s position, he said the party opposed reservations on religious grounds and claimed that a BJP government in Telangana would scrap such provisions.Highlighting national issues, Nabin said India’s global standing had strengthened under BJP rule and cited the hoisting of the Tricolour at Lal Chowk in Kashmir as an example of the country’s progress. “Some people ask what has changed. Today, the Tricolour commands respect across the world,” he said.Reaffirming the party’s ideological foundation, Nabin reminded workers that the BJP’s guiding principle remained “Nation first, party next and self last”, and urged them to intensify grassroots engagement ahead of upcoming elections.
