Hyderabad: Panic gripped residents of Road No 4 in Saroornagar, after an explosion shattered the kitchen walls, windows and door of a house on Tuesday morning. No injuries were reported, though three members were inside the house at the time.Saroornagar police said locals alerted them around 11am about the blast at the residence of retired bank employee P Devendra in Bapu Nagar in Saroornagar. “We rushed to the spot after receiving the alert. Tenants live on the ground floor of the G+1 house and the landlord’s family stays on the first floor. The first-floor kitchen was damaged. The family was not sure what caused the explosion,” inspector N Srishylam said.Devendra told police he was near the ground-floor staircase when he heard a loud blast, while his wife Savitha was in the hall and their son Vishal was in a bedroom. Savitha said three LPG cylinders in the kitchen, one connected to the stove and two cylinders kept aside, were intact.Police called in the bomb disposal team, fire services and Clues team. Forensic samples were collected. Police suspect a gas leak from the cylinder or stove may have triggered the blast, but said the exact cause will be known after analysis. A fire accident case was booked.
