Hyderabad: The Telangana BJP on Tuesday set the tone for its campaign against the Congress govt by adopting a political resolution asking its cadre to take the party’s message to every booth and household, while accusing the ruling dispensation of betraying Telangana’s mandate and turning the state into an ‘ATM for the Congress high command’.Rajya Sabha MP K Laxman moved the political resolution at the party’s state executive meeting on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The BJP also adopted separate resolutions on agriculture and on the PM Narendra Modi-led NDA govt completing 12 years at the Centre. The political resolution alleged that the Congress had come to power on the strength of unrealistic promises but had failed to deliver on key assurances, including the farm loan waiver, Rythu Bharosa, unemployment assistance, welfare schemes for women and education support. The BJP claimed that students pursuing higher education had been hit by delays in the fee reimbursement scheme. It alleged that colleges were facing financial strain due to pending reimbursements, while students from economically weaker families were being denied certificates, prevented from appearing for examinations, or forced to pay fees despite the scheme. It said the delays had put the future of thousands of students at risk. The resolution also accused the Congress govt of pushing the state into financial distress through indiscriminate borrowing and failing to fulfil promises made to farmers, youth, women and other sections of society. It alleged that governance had deteriorated and corruption had increased under the present dispensation.Calling for a sustained grassroots campaign, the BJP directed its cadre to highlight these issues at the booth level and strengthen the party’s organisational network ahead of future elections. The resolutions were adopted on the concluding day of the two-day state executive meeting attended by BJP national president Nitin Nabin and senior party leaders.
