T’puram: Family of R L Nithin Raj, the Kannur Anjarakandy Dental College student whose death has sparked widespread protests, expressed dissatisfaction with the ongoing police investigation after meeting chief minister V D Satheesan, alleging that probe had favoured the accused.Speaking to reporters after the meeting here on Wednesday, Raj’s mother Latha broke down in tears, saying that justice had still not been delivered even 95 days after her son’s death.His father, Rajan, alleged that investigation was derailed in its initial stages and claimed that police had acted in a manner that benefited the accused. He, however, said the family continued to have faith in govt and expressed hope that justice would be served. According to Rajan, chief minister assured them that he would discuss the matter with home minister and ensure appropriate action.Congress MP Kodikunnil Suresh, who accompanied the family, demanded a comprehensive investigation into the case. He said chief minister had assured the family that their grievances would be addressed. Suresh pointed out that Supreme Court had denied bail to the prime accused, faculty member M K Ram, but alleged that the accused still has not been arrested. He added that govt would inform the family about further steps after holding consultations.Dalit activist Sunny M Kapikkad also called for immediate arrest of Ram and criticised the current investigation as inadequate. He reiterated action council’s demand for the constitution of a special investigation team to conduct a comprehensive probe. Kapikkad said chief minister had responded positively to the demand during the meeting.
