T’puram: A 45-year-old man was found dead in the family well at Edava in Varkala on Wednesday morning, nearly two days after he was last seen leaving home following an argument with his family.The deceased was identified as Suresh of Thottumukham, Edava. Police said the body, which was in a decomposed state, is suspected to have been in the well for around two to three days.According to police, Suresh was at home on Monday morning. After allegedly arguing with his father and sister, he left the house. His two-wheeler remained parked by roadside near the house, while his mobile phone was also found nearby.The body came to light when Suresh’s sister attempted to draw water from the well on Wednesday. The bucket reportedly struck the body lodged inside the well, prompting the family to alert authorities.The well is located within the family’s property and is regularly used by the household as well as nearly five neighbouring families for drinking and domestic purposes. Apparently, the residents continued drawing water from the well until the body was discovered.Fire and rescue services personnel reached the spot around 10am and recovered the body. It was shifted to Parippally Govt Medical College Hospital for autopsy.Police said it is yet to be established whether Suresh died by suicide or accidentally fell into the well. They added that he was known to consume alcohol, and a probe is under way.
