People explore BRICS Bazar 2026 at the National Handicrafts Museum, in New Delhi

Ahmedabad: Two prominent institutions from Gujarat — National Institute of Fashion Technology Gandhinagar (NIFT-G) and National Institute of Design (NID) Ahmedabad — participated in the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi.NIFT-G, along with other govt institutions, conceptualised and executed BRICS Bazaar 2026 on the theme ‘Crafting Cultures, Connecting People’.

Prof Sameer Sood, director of NIFT-G, said the Bazaar featured 44 artisans from 18 countries. “The participating artisans presented a remarkable spectrum of skilled craftsmanship, encompassing handcrafted textiles, willow weaving, beadwork, lacquer art, eco-printing, papier-mache, pottery, weaving, easel painting, figurine craft, hand modelling, Gzhel ceramics, wood and calabash art, batik, hot enamelling and several other distinctive craft traditions,” he said.

National Institute of Design (NID)

NID designed the Bharat Innovates Exposition at Bharat Mandapam. The expo brought together 37 leading deep tech startups and ventures in fields such as AI, quantum computing, healthcare, marine robotics, and floating solar tech, among others.
