Ahmedabad: A decomposing body of 28-year-old woman constable posted at Shahibaug police headquarters was found hanging at her rented home in Sector 3D of Gandhinagar on Monday night, nearly 48 hours after she posted a cryptic message on Instagram.The deceased, Jhanvi Dabhi, originally from Ahmedabad, had been serving in the police force for five years. She was a divorcee and had been living alone in Gandhinagar.Police suspect Dabhi died around one-and-a-half to two days before her body was discovered. Her landlord alerted police late Monday after noticing a foul smell coming from her room. Sector 7 police reached the house and found her body hanging from a ceiling fan with a dupatta. The body was sent for postmortem and an accidental death report was registered.Two days before her death, Dabhi had uploaded a photograph of herself on Instagram with the message, “I wish I was monster you think I am “. Police are examining her social media activity and mobile phone to determine whether the post was linked to circumstances preceding her death.No suicide note was recovered from her house. Police have seized her phone and are examining her calls, messages and other digital evidence. Investigators are also collecting details about her colleagues and friends from Shahibaug headquarters.Dabhi had a difficult family history. Her mother had remarried after her father’s death. Her brother and sister lived with their paternal aunt in Shamlaji, police said.Dabhi had initially entered into a love marriage. After her husband’s death, she married his elder brother following family and social arrangements. The relationship later developed differences, and the couple divorced around one-and-a-half years ago.Relatives described Dabhi as an independent woman living on her own terms. They said she also enjoyed making Instagram reels. Police are examining whether she faced any personal or financial pressures.Forensic Science Laboratory assistance was being taken to establish the approximate time of death. Family members will also be questioned after the last rites.
