Times News NetworkKanpur: The stage is set for the first National Ranking Table Tennis championship to be held at the ultra-modern indoor stadium of The Sports Hub (TSH) from August 16 to August 23. The city is hoisting an all-India-level table tennis championship after nearly four decades. The upcoming championship will witness participation of around 3,100 paddlers across age groups, from under-11 to senior men and women categories. The tournament carries a total prize purse of Rs 10 lakh.Sanjeev Pathak, chairman of the organising committee, said the winners of the men’s and women’s categories will receive Rs 88,600 each, while the runners-up will get Rs 44,300. The Under-19 champion will receive Rs 35,500 and the runner-up Rs 17,800.The winners of the under-17, under-15 and under-13 categories will receive Rs 27,600, Rs 22,400 and Rs 16,600, respectively. The under-11 winner will get Rs 9,200 and the runner-up Rs 4,600. The organisers said prize money will be awarded up to the quarter-final stage.The under-11 and under-13 finals will be held on August 18, followed by the under-15 final on August 20. The under-17 final is scheduled for August 21, while the under-19 and senior men and women finals will be played on August 23.
