Udupi: A motorcyclist died and his pillion rider was injured after their bike rammed a Tempo truck in Manipal on Monday. The deceased is Bhaskar Nayak. According to police, the accident occurred at Bairanje in 80 Badagubettu village, Udupi taluk. Bhaskar, the rider of the motorcycle, was allegedly riding at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner, with Purushottam Nayak as pillion rider.The motorcycle collided with the Tempo truck belonging to the complainant Mustafa Saheb from Shirva. As a result of the impact, both the rider and pillion rider fell onto the road. The rider sustained severe bleeding head injuries, while the pillion rider suffered bleeding injuries to the leg. Both were admitted to a hospital for treatment; however, Bhaskar succumbed to his injuries. A case has been registered at the Manipal police station in this regard.
