Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) greenfield Data Centre and Enterprise Computing & Cybersecurity Training Institute at Info Valley-II near Bhubaneswar on Oct 25, official sources said. The announcement came after chief secretary Anu Garg chaired a preparatory meeting on Saturday to review the arrangements for Modi’s Odisha visit and President Droupadi Murmu’s scheduled visit to the state on Oct 28 and 29.Spread over 18.55 acres, the integrated facility will strengthen RBI’s data management, disaster recovery and cybersecurity capabilities. The project’s foundation stone was laid by then RBI governor Shaktikanta Das on March 22, 2023. At the time, Das had underlined the growing role of technology in central banking and stressed the need to expand RBI’s computing infrastructure and research capabilities in emerging areas such as enterprise computing, cybersecurity and digital technologies. The Odisha facility will serve as a critical backup to RBI’s primary data centre at Navi Mumbai and is designed to ensure uninterrupted functioning of key financial systems. RBI had chosen the site for its strategic location away from high-risk border zones and seismically sensitive regions, reducing vulnerability to geopolitical and natural disaster risks. The data centre, built to global reliability standards with fault-tolerant architecture and multiple layers of redundancy, is part of RBI’s broader strategy to bolster business continuity and safeguard India’s financial infrastructure. The campus also houses Enterprise Computing & Cybersecurity Training Institute, aimed at strengthening research, capacity building and skill development in emerging technology domains.President Murmu will visit Odisha on Oct 28 and 29, during which she will offer prayers at Maa Kichakeswari Temple in Bahalda and participate in rituals at Mahuldiha in Mayurbhanj district. She will also visit Rairangpur sub-divisional hospital and interact with beneficiaries of a mega health camp. On Oct 28, President will address a public gathering in Rairangpur, lay the foundation stone for Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM) campus and launch several civic projects. She will conclude her visit on Oct 29 after attending health, education and skill development programmes.
