Mysuru: Senior KAS officer MK Savitha on Wednesday assumed charge as the commissioner of the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC). Before this appointment, she was serving as the registrar of the University of Mysuru.She has also served as the secretary of the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (Muda) and as deputy director of Tourism.Outgoing MCC commissioner Sheikh Tanveer Asif formally handed over charge to her. Speaking to reporters, Savitha said she would make every effort to ensure that Mysuru remains a clean city and regains its status as the cleanest city in India.She also said she would strive to make all MCC zonal offices more citizen-friendly and ensure hassle-free delivery of services. The new commissioner stated that the clearance of footpath encroachments would be carried out in a phased manner in accordance with Supreme Court guidelines. Hawkers would be relocated to alternative sites without affecting their livelihood opportunities, she added.
