Ahmedabad: Additional advocate general, Mitesh Amin, resigned from the post on Monday, and the state legal department accepted his resignation. Senior advocate Amin served as the top law officer of the govt for over 11 years. He was appointed the public prosecutor in the Gujarat high court in 2015 and then was elevated to the post of the additional advocate general in 2023.In his resignation letter, advocate Amin thanked the govt for providing him with an opportunity to serve and said he was stepping down to resume private practice.Before his appointment as public prosecutor, Amin practised as a criminal lawyer and was part of the proceedings related to the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case and the 2002 Gulbarg Society massacre case. He is currently involved in appeals in the 2008 serial blasts case pending before the high court.
