Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad City district education officer (DEO) issued a show-cause notice to a school in Isanpur, after allegations surfaced that it misled parents regarding a proposed school merger. The action was taken after it was found that Vedant Public School informed parents about a merger without receiving official approval from the education authorities.According to official sources, Vedant Public School submitted a letter seeking permission to merge with Vedant Vidya Vihar School from the academic session June 2026-27. However, the DEO office clarified that no approval was granted for the proposed merger. Despite this, the school management allegedly conveyed to parents that the merger would take place, creating confusion, fear, and unrest among them. The issue came to light following complaints and representations made by parents, as well as reports in the media. Many parents strongly objected to the move, stating that they were misinformed about the school’s status. Taking serious note of the matter, the DEO directed the school to immediately inform parents that no permission for the merger was granted and that the school would continue to function as usual. In addition, the school was instructed to appear in person before the authorities and submit a clarification. The notice warned that failure to respond might result in further action as per rules. The DEO also officially rejected the proposal for the school merger.
