Patna: In a bizarre incident in Kishanganj district, a family mistakenly cremated the body of an unidentified youth after believing him to be their missing relative, only to later discover that the man was alive.Amar Chauhan, a resident of Motibag under Sadar police station area, went missing on Thursday. The next day, a youth was killed after being hit by a train near Khagda number three railway crossing. Family members identified the body as Amar’s and, following a post-mortem at Sadar hospital, performed the last rites.Later, the family received a call informing them that Amar was found alive but intoxicated in Panjipara area of West Bengal. They rushed there and brought him home safely.Superintendent of police Santosh Kumar said a fresh unnatural death (UD) case has been registered and efforts are underway to identify the cremated body. He added that the body was handed over following standard procedure after family identification.AIIMS-P PG student attempts suicide, hospitalised: A first-year postgraduate student of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Patna was found unconscious in his hostel room on Friday after allegedly attempting suicide by consuming drugs.The student, identified as Vishwas Kumar, a resident of Mukundapur in West Bengal, is currently under treatment in the ICU. Doctors said his condition is stable.Police recovered a suicide note from his hostel room, following which the room was sealed and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team called in for investigation. The student’s family has been informed, police said.School driver arrested for raping minor in Siwan: A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped during a Ram Navami fair at a village in Siwan district. Police have arrested the accused, who is a driver at the victim’s private school.According to police, the accused lured the girl away from the fair by claiming that her brother-in-law was calling her. He allegedly took her to a nearby abandoned school and committed the crime before fleeing.The girl was later found crying and narrated the incident to her grandmother. The family approached the police, following which the victim was sent to Sadar hospital for medical examination.Superintendent of police Puran Kumar Jha said the accused is being interrogated and further investigation is underway.Unidentified youth found dead in Alamganj Area: The body of an unidentified young man was found near a school at Bhadraghat under Alamganj police station area of Patna on Saturday morning.Local residents spotted the body and alerted the police. The body was sent for post-mortem after preliminary investigation at the spot.Police said prima facie the death may be linked to drug abuse, though the exact cause will be confirmed after the post-mortem report. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined and a forensic team has been called in.Efforts are underway to establish the identity of the deceased, police added.
