Krishnagiri: A Class VIII girl, who went missing from her house on Saturday, was found dead in a well in Mari Chetti Alli village here on Sunday.The Nagarasampatty police identified the deceased as Shobana, 13, daughter of Pandian-Bhanupriya couple of Jayanur village in their jurisdiction. She was a student at the panchayat union middle school in Mari Chetti Alli village. “When her parents left for work on Saturday, Shobana went out on her bicycle after informing her younger brother that she was going to a friend’s house nearby. As Shobana did not return for a long time, her parents went in search of her at the friend’s house, where the minor girl said she was going. When they learned that she hadn’t visited the friend’s house, they lodged a missing person complaint with police,” a police officer said. Meanwhile, local residents found a girl’s body floating in a well on a parcel of farmland in Mari Chetti Alli village on Sunday. When alerted, the Nagarasampatty police, along with fire and rescue services personnel, recovered the body, which was then sent to Krishnagiri Govt Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. Police traced the identity of the deceased with the help of locals and alerted her parents. “We suspect that she might have fallen into the well while riding her bicycle. We have recovered the bicycle from the well after pumping out water. We have registered a case and are inquiring,” the officer said.
