Coimbatore: A 44-year-old inmate of a govt shelter home at RS Puram was arrested on Friday in connection with two motorcycle theft cases. Police have recovered the stolen two-wheelers from him.The RS Puram police identified the arrested person as S Dinesh Kumar, of Vellore district. He has been staying at the shelter home for the past —- by posing as an orphan. According to a police officer, Dinesh Kumar was held based on the complaints lodged by M Gajendran, 48, of Kurichi near Sundarapuram, and K Mohan, 31, of RS Puram, about their missing motorcycles on March 18. “We registered two separate cases and began an investigation. CCTV footage reportedly showed Dinesh Kumar’s involvement in both thefts. We subsequently traced his whereabouts and nabbed him on Friday,” the officer said. During questioning, police found that Dinesh Kumar had a criminal history. “He stayed at the govt shelter home to avoid suspicion. We have recovered both the motorcycles from him,” the officer said. Dinesh Kumar was produced before a court and lodged in Coimbatore Central Prison under judicial custody the same evening.
