Srinagar, September 22:Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Mohammad Umar Farooq on Tuesday delivered a special religious address at the historic Aastan-e-Aaliya Dastgeer Sahib (RA) at Khanyar, Srinagar, on the occasion of the annual Urs Mubarak of Hazrat Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA).
A large gathering of devotees attended the religious programme, with a significant number of women also participating in the gathering. Mirwaiz was accorded a warm welcome by people upon his arrival at Khanyar.
In his address, Mirwaiz focused on the fundamental Islamic message of Tawheed—the absolute Oneness of Allah Almighty—and highlighted the enduring spiritual and reformative legacy of Hazrat Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA).
He said Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA) consistently urged believers to remain firmly attached to the Qur’an and Sunnah, purify their hearts and souls, engage in righteous deeds and place complete trust and reliance upon Allah Almighty.
Referring to the difficult circumstances being faced by Muslims across the world, Mirwaiz said the teachings of the revered saint hold particular relevance in the present times. He called upon Muslims to strengthen their relationship with Allah through sincere prayers, genuine repentance, patience, steadfastness, firm faith and unwavering trust in Him.
Mirwaiz emphasised that spiritual closeness to Allah should also be reflected in a person’s dealings with fellow human beings. He urged devotees to adopt humility, compassion, self-purification, righteous character and a spirit of service to humanity—values that, he said, were integral to the teachings of Hazrat Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA).
He further stressed that true spirituality lies in sincere devotion to Allah, adherence to His commandments and following the path shown by the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
At the conclusion of his sermon and religious discourse, Mirwaiz recited a Manqabat in praise of Hazrat Peeran-e-Peer Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA) and paid tribute to his enduring religious, spiritual and reformative services to the Muslim Ummah.
The annual Urs Mubarak at Dastgeer Sahib Shrine was attended by devotees who gathered to offer prayers and participate in the religious observances commemorating the revered saint.
