Rourkela: Two minor sisters drowned in a pond under Sinapali police station limits in Nuapada district on Sunday. According to sources, sisters Jasoda (8) and Gupteswari Hans (5), residents of Tileimal village under Jharband gram panchayat in Sinapali police station area, went to Darli pond for bathing without the knowledge of their mother. Not finding them home, their parents started searching for them. Their father went near the pond, where he discovered their clothes. Suspecting danger, he entered the water and found both his daughters drowned, before recovering their bodies. A police team, led by inspector in charge of Sinapali station, Maheswar Panigrahi, reached the spot and sent the bodies to the Sinapali community health centre for postmortem, after which they were handed over to the family.
