Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary on Saturday launched 83 development projects worth Rs 218 crore in Sitamarhi district, including the inauguration of 82 projects and foundation stone for one. Bihar’s first fish brood bank was also inaugurated.He also inaugurated a 30-metric-tonnes-per-day milk powder plant in the district, built at a cost of Rs 76 crore. Officials said the unit was part of the state’s broader plan to modernise Bihar’s dairy sector. It is expected to provide local livestock farmers with a dependable outlet for processing surplus milk while supporting value addition and organised dairy activity in the region.Choudhary also launched breeding operations at the state’s first brood bank at the Bakhri Fish Hatchery complex. He inspected the hatchery, where officials briefed him on its contribution to fish production in Bihar, the breeding cycle of carp, the current status of fish production and related operational issues. The brood bank is spread over 40 acres.The CM sought details of steps being taken to increase fish output and ensure the availability of fish seed, and issued instructions to officials concerned.He said the milk powder plant would promote milk processing and benefit milk producers. Development of the dairy and fisheries sectors, he added, would increase the income of farmers, livestock rearers and fish farmers and strengthen the state’s rural economy.Samrat later reviewed stalls set up by various departments at the venue and handed over symbolic cheques and certificates to beneficiaries under different govt schemes during the programme.
