Lucknow: Indian Railways has approved the merger of 14109/14110 Chitrakutdham Karwi-Kanpur Central Express and 14123/14124 Maa Belha Devi Dham Pratapgarh-Kanpur Central Express into a single 14123/14124 Maa Belha Devi Dham Pratapgarh-Chitrakutdham Karwi Express, improving direct connectivity between Pratapgarh, Kanpur Central and Chitrakoot. The merged service will also double passenger capacity from 12 to 24 coaches, helping ease overcrowding on the Kanpur-Pratapgarh section.The merger will provide direct rail connectivity between Chitrakoot and the Pratapgarh-Lucknow region, reducing the need for passengers to change trains at Kanpur Central. It will benefit those travelling for pilgrimage, tourism, education, employment and other purposes.The merged service will continue to serve key stations, including Maa Belha Devi Dham Pratapgarh, Chilbila, Amethi, Rae Bareli, Lucknow, Unnao, Kanpur Central, Hamirpur Road, Banda, Atarra and Chitrakutdham Karwi, among others.The 24-coach composition will substantially increase seating capacity and provide greater convenience to passengers travelling between Kanpur, Banda, Chitrakoot, Pratapgarh and stations along the route.The merger is expected to strengthen rail connectivity between Bundelkhand and Awadh and improve access to Chitrakoot, while supporting travel for pilgrimage, tourism, education, healthcare, employment, business and administrative purposes.
