Prayagraj: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has declared the preliminary examination results for five subjects for recruitment to assistant professor posts in govt degree colleges.The results cover Chemistry, Economics, Geography, History and Military Science (Defence Studies), with candidates shortlisted for the main examination based on their performance in the preliminary test held on May 31.The recruitment examination is being conducted for assistant professor posts across 28 subjects. According to the results declared by the commission, some categories have fewer shortlisted candidates than the prescribed number as the required minimum qualifying standard could not be met.For Chemistry, 87 posts are available. Of the 5,403 candidates registered for the subject, 2,487 appeared in the preliminary examination and 1,369 have qualified for the main examination.In Economics, against 61 posts, 3,780 candidates had registered and 2,198 appeared for the preliminary test. Of these, 1,119 candidates have been declared successful for the next stage.For Geography, 46 posts are to be filled. A total of 7,741 candidates had registered, of whom 4,316 appeared in the examination. The commission has shortlisted 1,130 candidates for the main examination.History has 58 vacancies, with 11,271 candidates registered for the subject. As many as 5,915 candidates appeared in the preliminary examination, while 1,108 have qualified for the main examination.The smallest number of vacancies is in Military Science (Defence Studies), where two posts are available. Of the 262 candidates registered, 171 appeared for the preliminary examination and 29 have qualified for the main examination.The results have been uploaded on the UPPSC website. Commission secretary Girijesh Kumar Tyagi said the results are provisional and entirely subject to the conditions prescribed for the recruitment. The detailed schedule and other information regarding the main examination will be issued separately by the commission.
