Gurgaon: A 37-year-old migrant worker was stabbed to death near Labour Chowk in IMT Manesar early Tuesday, with the knife used in the attack found lodged in his chest. Police have registered a murder case and are trying to identify the attacker and establish the motive.The victim, Laltu, a native of Lucknow, had moved to the area around four months ago and lived with his family in rented accommodation in Kakrola. He worked at a belt manufacturing unit in Sector 4, IMT Manesar, and had joined the company only a day before the incident.Police said the attack took place around 12.30am near Labour Chowk in Sector 5. They received information about the incident around 12.45am and reached the spot, where Laltu was found with a serrated knife stuck in his chest.Investigators said the attacker appeared to have stabbed Laltu once before fleeing. The circumstances leading to the attack and the motive are not yet clear. Police are examining whether the victim knew the attacker or had any dispute with him.Laltu’s family learnt about the incident after his wife tried calling him around midnight. “He did not answer the first call. A short while later, someone picked up the phone, following which we came to know about the incident,” she said.Police said there was no immediate indication of robbery as Laltu’s mobile phone and other belongings were found with him. Investigators are checking CCTV footage from Labour Chowk and adjoining areas and questioning people who were present nearby.They are also examining Laltu’s recent movements, interactions and activities at his workplace to establish what happened before the killing.Laltu is survived by his wife and 13-year-old son. Police said teams were working to trace the accused and further investigation was underway.
