Ara: A 25-year-old man was shot dead by his neighbour over a suspected extramarital affair at Gyanpur village under the Gidha police station area in Bhojpur district on Saturday afternoon. The victim, Ravi Kumar, son of Hare Ram Rai, suffered a bullet injury to the head and succumbed while being taken to Sadar hospital. The accused, identified as Saroj Kumar (30), allegedly opened fire after suspecting that his wife was having an illicit relationship with Ravi.Ara Sadar SDPO-2 Ranjit Kumar Singh said that around 1pm on Saturday, police received information that a man had been shot in the head by his neighbour, Saroj Kumar (30), at Gyanpur village. “I along with a police team reached the spot and sent the body to Sadar hospital for post-mortem. The area was cordoned off, and an FSL team was called to assist in the investigation. Adequate police personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order in the village, which is peaceful at present. Raids are on to nab the accused,” he said.The SDPO further said that preliminary investigation revealed that Ravi allegedly used to talk to Saroj Kumar’s wife secretly. “We are investigating the matter from all angles,” he added.
