Karan Johar has several actors under his belt at his talent house; however, the recent exit of Janhvi Kapoor has sparked debate online. Addressing the actress’s move from the agency, the famed filmmaker opened up about what he has in store for the future and what he will be focusing on from now on.
Karan Johar says that he will focus on in-house talent following Janhvi Kapoor’s exit
Other than Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Parineeti Chopra are also some of the names who have changed management teams as of late. While talking to Hindustan Times and addressing Janhvi Kapoor’s exit, Johar shared that “there will be some talent who come to us and go; between the three leading agencies, there is always passing the parcel that is happening.” He, however, reassured that their management agency was one of the most lucrative arms of their business and that they were stronger than ever.He further mentioned that “Anyone who has left our agency, I will always wish them well and also work with them. Many times they have left our agency and I still continue to work with them.”On focusing on in-house talent, the filmmaker shared that while he works with everyone regardless of whether they are under his agency or not, he will prioritize those who are under his wing. “I will cast them on the basis of who I think is right for the role, but yes, as a production house, I will prioritise our talent because I want to make sure they are part of the family in everything we do,” he concluded.
Karan Johar on why celebrities in the Bollywood industry change their management teams and agencies
Karan Johar was open about not judging anyone for wishing for a fresh start elsewhere. He said he understands that celebrities often change agencies, noting that a lot constantly surrounds them and that this can definitely affect them. He said, “So we are dealing with an anxiety-ridden, anxious generation who want the validation of stardom very fast, and I don’t blame them because they are judged on a daily basis. When we started off in movies, none of us were the recipients of these kinds of judgment. The daily judgment that exists and surrounds this generation is exhausting and affects your mental health and state of mind.”
On the work front with Karan Johar
On the work front, filmmaker Karan Johar is keeping himself busier than ever. While it has not been officially confirmed by Johar or his team, Midday reported a few days ago that “The studio is eager to work with Sidharth again and believes the subject aligns well with his persona. He liked the concept when it was shared last year. He gave a verbal nod then, wanting to read the script before a formal commitment. Now, it’s in the final stages of discussion.” This will not be the first time that the two may be working together, as Malhotra’s debut as an actor happened in Karan Johar’s very own ‘Student of the Year.’
