Vadodara: A Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act court here convicted 31-year-old Vilas Makwana, a resident of Nizampura, for raping a nine-year-old girl and sentenced him to 20 years’ imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 50,000.According to police, the offence took place in December 2024 when the girl was playing near her house. Makwana, who lived in the same area, allegedly lured her to his house on the pretext of playing and took her to his room, where he raped her.The girl informed her parents about the incident two days later. They then approached Fatehgunj police station and lodged an FIR against Makwana.Police traced and arrested Makwana within a few days. Investigators subsequently carried out a detailed probe and filed a chargesheet before the court.Following the trial, the court found Makwana guilty and sentenced him to 20 years’ imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000.
