Silchar: Police arrested a man for allegedly killing his elder brother during a dispute over ancestral property in Sribhumi district.The arrested man, Taj Uddin, and his brother Nizam Uddin allegedly attacked Tajel Hussain (45) in the Nilambazar police station area on Sunday afternoon, police said. Nizam remains absconding.According to police, an argument broke out among the three brothers over the division of ancestral property. The dispute turned violent, and Taj and Nizam allegedly assaulted Tajel in front of their mother. Tajel suffered fatal injuries and died. The accused fled after the incident.Police said Taj was arrested at a hideout on Thursday after searches at several locations. He was taken to the crime scene for reconstruction. Police also recovered a sharp-edged weapon suspected to have been used in the killing.Raids are under way to arrest Nizam. Investigators are examining the property dispute and circumstances leading to the killing.
