Prayagraj: A 30-year-old medical store owner was shot dead allegedly by his brother-in-law following a family dispute in Pratapgarh’s Kohdaur area on Tuesday, police said.The accused, Kapil Yadav, an ex-serviceman and resident of Amethi, was later beaten up by the victim’s family members and admitted to the district hospital with injuries.According to police, Kapil was married to the victim’s sister Priyanka and worked as a security guard at the district hospital in Sultanpur. The couple had reportedly been involved in a domestic dispute, after which Priyanka’s brother, Devendra Yadav, brought her back to her parental home in Madafarpur Bazaar on Monday.On Tuesday, Kapil allegedly arrived at the house wearing an Army uniform and carrying his licensed pistol. He got into an argument with Devendra, which soon escalated. During the confrontation, Kapil allegedly opened fire, critically injuring Devendra.Devendra was rushed for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.After receiving information, Pratapgarh SP Deepak Bhukar, along with police personnel and forensic experts, reached the spot and initiated an investigation.Police have taken Kapil into custody and seized the pistol. Further investigation is underway.
