Prayagraj: A 50-year-old Bangladeshi man, who had allegedly been living illegally in the Ram Nagar area of Meja tehsil for the past 20 years, was arrested on Monday night, police said.The arrest followed a property dispute between Kamlesh alias Sujal Vishwas and his maternal uncle’s second wife, who alerted police about his Bangladeshi links.According to police, Kamlesh visited his native village in Bangladesh in 2011 to attend a family function. His parents, brother and other relatives continue to live there.DCP (Yamuna Nagar) Vivek Chandra Yadav told TOI that an FIR has been lodged and a detailed investigation has been launched.He said Ram Nagar resident Geeta Vishwas accused Kamlesh of attempting to grab her land. She also alleged that he owned several properties in Bangladesh and obtained an Indian passport using forged documents.Police said Geeta’s husband died in 2019. She had lodged an FIR against Kamlesh at Meja police station in 2025 over the property dispute. She further accused him of arranging fake Aadhaar cards for his wife and children.Kamlesh is a quack and his wife is a native of UP, police said.
