Bhubaneswar: Sea Beach police in Puri arrested a man for allegedly snatching cash and mobile phones from a woman assistant sub‑inspector (ASI) on Sunday. Police identified the accused as Dilip Mandal (40) of Murshidabad in West Bengal.ASI Durgesh Nandini Dey (41), posted at Tomka police station in Jajpur district, is currently in Puri on Rath Yatra duty. “She was in plain clothes and off duty when the incident occurred. While she was near Chakratirtha Road, Mandal snatched her bag containing two mobile phones and Rs 7,000 in cash. Based on CCTV footage, we tracked him down in the sea beach area and recovered the stolen articles,” a police officer said.
