Berhampur: A 23-year-old woman, who set herself on fire at her in-law’s house on Thursday, unable to take the sexual abuse by her father for the last three years, succumbed to burn injuries at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Saturday night.Police had on Saturday arrested her father, a physical education teacher in a govt high school in Kandhamal district.“Deceased’s father has already been arrested. He will now be booked for abetment of his daughter’s suicide following of her death,” said Alok Jena, additional SP (Berhampur).Police said they are also investigating if any other person is behind her suicide. A police team has interrogated the family members and in-laws of the deceased, as a part of the investigation.The woman set herself on fire on Thursday after locking herself on the rooftop of her in-law’s house. Her brother-in-law took to MKCG Medical College and Hospital. Police recorded her statement while she was admitted at MKCG, during which she told them about the sexual abuse at the hands of her father, which continued even after her marriage.
