Prayagraj: A 30-year-old man was arrested on Monday night for faking his son’s kidnapping to implicate his estranged wife and her sister.Police said Kamlesh Bind of Pratapgarh had a fallout with his wife a few months back, and both started living separately. Since, Kamlesh worked in Surat, he gave the custody of his 10-year-old boy to his brother-in-law, Bajrangi Bind of Baudhai Kathauta village. On March 7, the boy’s mother and aunt submitted a plaint to the Phulpur police seeking the boy’s custody. Despite repeated persuasion, Bajrangi refused to return the child, leading to a challan being filed against him under section 170 of the BNSS. Miffed over this, Kamlesh, along with Bajrangi, his sister Radhika and brother, Akhilesh Kumar (19), conspired to hide the child and spread false news that the child was kidnapped by his mother and aunt. Under their plan, Kamlesh on March 8 submitted a complaint to Phulpur police regarding the kidnapping. The Phulpur police constituted a team to crack the case. Upon investigation, they found the child at Bajrangi Bind’s house. Following this, the child was rescued and returned to the mother. Police arrested Kamlesh, Akhilesh, Radhika and Bajrangi under various sections of BNS for giving misleading and false information.
