Kanpur: Kalyanpur police arrested a man who carried a reward of Rs 10,000, from Mira Road in Thane, Maharashtra on Tuesday. He had been evading arrest for four years in a case of forcing his wife into prostitution.Police traced the accused with the help of a surveillance team. He was produced before a court and sent to jail.A woman from Kalyanpur police station area lodged a complaint in 2022 against her husband, a resident of Bartalla in Kolkata. She said that they were married on May 2, 2022.The woman alleged that her husband and her in-laws were demanding more dowry after the marriage. She accused her husband of assaulting and harassing her when the demand was not met.In her complaint, she alleged that Singh took her to Sonagachi red-light area in Kolkata and tried to force her into prostitution. She said she was assaulted and harassed when she resisted.Kalyanpur police registered a case against her husband and launched an investigation. He fled after learning about the case registered against him and repeatedly changed his location to evade arrest, said police.Police raided several suspected hideouts but failed to arrest him. They later intensified the search and announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to his arrest.
