Vadodara: A man duping people by posing as an exorcist was arrested by detection of crime branch (DCB) on Friday. The accused has been identified as Mukeshnath Madari, a resident of Gandhinagar.Police said that they received a tip-off about a man who was riding a two-wheeler without numberplates. Police arrived and apprehended Madari who couldn’t produce the vehicle’s documents. When police frisked him, they found a gold chain in his trouser pocket.Madari admitted having cheated a man two-and-half months ago near Ayurvedic Crossroads in the city. He told the man he would need the gold chain for a ritual, took it and fled. Madari also targeted a man in Chhani area about two weeks ago by posing as an exorcist and taking away his gold chain.Crime branch sleuths said they have registered two offences against 35-year-old Madari at Fatehgunj police station and Panigate police station. Madari has four offences including cheating and theft registered against him in Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Banaskantha.
