Patna: A 26-year-old man died after sustaining a severe head injury following an alleged suicide attempt at his rented room in Vigrahpur under Jakkanpur police station area of Patna on Monday. The deceased was identified as Nivesh Kumar alias Vicky, a resident of Moryama village under Dhanarua police station area.According to police, Vicky lived alone in the rented accommodation and worked with a travel agency. He was married and had a one-and-a-half-year-old daughter.Jakkanpur SHO Rituraj told TOI no case had been registered against anyone so far. Prima facie, police suspect that Nivesh made a noose using a towel and attempted to hang himself from a ceiling fan. The knot allegedly came loose or broke, causing him to fall. His head reportedly struck a wall, resulting in a serious injury and his subsequent death.The SHO said an FSL examination of the spot was also conducted, which indicated that the youth died after the fall. “However, the exact cause will be established after the postmortem report comes,” he said.Nivesh’s family became concerned after he stopped responding to phone calls on Monday. His uncle, Vinay Kumar Sharma, said relatives then sent acquaintances to check on him. The room was locked from inside, following which police were informed. The door was opened in the presence of police, and Nivesh was found dead on the bed.The SHO said that the door of the room was broken open by the Dial-112 team in the presence of the deceased’s family. “Upon receiving the information, the police team immediately rushed to the spot. The door was locked from inside and there is no way for anyone to escape. A noose was also hanging from the ceiling fan, while Vicky was lying on the floor with a head injury. No suicide note was found at the spot,” he said.
