Kanpur: A tragic incident had occurred on Saturday night in Sen Paschim Para Nayapurwa when an inebriated nephew brutally murdered his sleeping uncle with a spade handle. At the DCP South office on Monday, the nephew admitted that his uncle’s persistent irritating conduct led him to kill him.The victim, Shivbalak Rajput, aged 50, a farmer from Nayapurwa, was resting on a cot near the animal shed when his intoxicated nephew Neeraj repeatedly struck his head and face with a spade handle, causing his death. Following the assault, Neeraj disposed of the blood-covered handle on Shivbalak’s roof and returned home while shouting abuse. Shivbalak’s wife Anita and sons, Rahul and Rohit, rushed him to a local nursing home where he was pronounced dead. Police subsequently arrested Neeraj at his residence.Rahul lodged a murder case complaint implicating Neeraj, his father Jagdish, village head uncle Samar Singh, and Ram Vilas. At Monday’s case presentation, DCP Deependra Chaudhary revealed that investigations indicated that Neeraj suffered from mental instability. Regular disagreements between Neeraj and Shivbalak regarding fields and pathways previously led Neeraj to threaten the latter with dire consequences, though family members managed to pacify him.On Saturday night, while in a drunken state, he recalled his uncle’s vexing behaviour, obtained a spade handle, and fatally struck him before throwing the bloodied weapon onto the roof of the victim’s family. The DCP confirmed that investigations found no evidence linking the village head or other accused parties to the incident.A recent altercation involving the village head and one of Shivbalak’s sons, who was caught misbehaving on the road, resulted in family tensions. This animosity led to the inclusion of the village head and his brother in the complaint.
