Rajkot: Nearly two months after a 24-year-old woman died by suicide, her mother has lodged a complaint alleging that the woman’s husband and brother-in-law subjected her to physical and mental harassment.Sunita Sangod of Dahod district allegedly died by suicide at a farm in Neknam village of Morbi’s Tankara taluka on July 19. Her mother, Mali Parmar, lodged the complaint at Tankara police station on Tuesday, naming Sunita’s husband, Maju Sangod, and his brother Raju Sangod. They have been booked for alleged abetment of suicide.According to the complaint, Sunita had returned to her maternal home about four months before her death following disputes with Maju. She allegedly told her mother that her husband was involved with another woman and that he harassed her when she confronted him. Raju allegedly supported his brother and taunted Sunita, the complaint stated.Family members later persuaded Sunita to return to her husband. The couple subsequently travelled to Neknam for labour work, where she allegedly died by suicide.Police are investigating the allegations and the circumstances surrounding her death.
