Gurgaon: A 45-year-old man was arrested for allegedly forcing his way into a neighbour’s flat and biting his thumb during a dispute inside a residential building in Sector 54’s Suncity township.The complainant, Inder, who lives on the fourth floor of the building, told police that the accused, Prateek Sapra, a resident of the first floor, assaulted him at his home on March 4.According to the complaint filed at Sector 53 police station, an argument broke out between the two during Holi celebrations earlier in the day. Around 4.22pm, Inder was at home with his family and neighbours when Sapra called him and used abusive language during the call.A short while later, Sapra reached Inder’s flat. When the door was opened, he forced his way inside, continued abusing him and tried to grab his collar. Inder alleged that Sapra then bit his right thumb with such force that the nail was dislodged and the bone was crushed. Sapra fled the house after seeing blood and hearing the children crying.Inder was taken to a private hospital, where doctors confirmed bite marks and found that the bone in his thumb was shattered. He was advised to undergo surgery, the FIR stated.The complaint further alleged that the following day, Sapra’s elder brother came to his residence and confronted his wife while she was alone at home. Inder also claimed his family was receiving threats from the accused.Police said Inder submitted a written complaint on March 5 and later provided medical documents on March 10. Based on the complaint and medical records, a case was registered under sections 117(2) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of BNS.“The accused works as a businessman, while the complainant is employed with a private company. We are investigating the case,” an officer said.
