Nagpur: Major General Varun Malhotra has assumed command of the Army’s Headquarters Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat (UMANG) Sub Area in Nagpur.Commissioned into the Corps of Engineers (Bombay Sappers) in 1994, Maj Gen Malhotra brings over three decades of military experience. He has served in a range of operational, command, administrative, communication and logistics planning roles.He has also held instructional and staff appointments at field formations. He has also tenanted instructional appointment at Defence Services Staff College, Wellington (Tamil Nadu).After taking charge, Maj Gen Malhotra interacted with officers and personnel of all ranks. He called on them to maintain the highest standards of operational preparedness and remain vigilant against emerging security challenges.Army officials expressed confidence that his leadership and professional experience would further strengthen the UMANG Sub Area, accelerate the development of military infrastructure and enhance operational readiness across the region.
