Nagpur: Almost two weeks into the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), confusion continues to linger, with many residents saying they are yet to receive Enumeration Forms, while others claim they are struggling to contact their designated Booth Level Officers (BLOs) or understand the documentation required for the exercise.The district administration maintains that the month-long drive is progressing as scheduled. Residents across different parts of the city, though, told TOI that the lack of clarity has fuelled anxiety, particularly among senior citizens and those unfamiliar with the process.“I’ve been hearing about the SIR every day, but no one has visited my house yet. Naturally, you begin wondering whether you’ve been missed or whether you need to do something on your own,” said Meenakshi Deshmukh, a resident from Manish Nagar.Another resident from Mhalgi Nagar said the process left many people confused. “Everyone is talking about different rules. Some say old electoral records are needed, others say family details have to be provided. There is no single source of information for ordinary citizens, so rumours spread quickly,” he said on the condition of anonymity.Senior district election officials told TOI that 52.60% of Enumeration Forms have already been distributed, while 11% of the exercise has been digitised. They reiterated that the door-to-door drive will continue till July 29 and urged residents not to assume they were left out if a BLO had not yet visited their household.“There is absolutely no reason for voters to panic. At this stage, they only need to fill the Enumeration Form with the required details. Any of the 12 prescribed documents, including Aadhaar, PAN card and passport, can be used later, if required, to establish the relationship. No supporting documents have to be submitted at this stage. Wherever applicable, electors simply need to mention their 2002 electoral roll details or those of an eligible parent or grandparent, which can be searched on the Election Commission’s portal. Documentary proof will be sought only during the hearing stage if any discrepancy arises,” deputy district election officer Rachna Indurkar said.Officials acknowledged that public awareness about the first SIR since 2002 is still evolving and said field teams have been instructed to explain the process during household visits. The administration said both physical distribution and digitisation are being monitored daily, while encouraging citizens to rely on official communication rather than rumours or unverified social media posts.
